Lecture: Design Matters: Rethinking Digital Fabrication – Calgary

On November 30, 2024, I attended a lecture by architect Yusuke Obuchi titled "Design Matters: Rethinking Digital Fabrication." The lecture took place at the University of Calgary and was organized for architecture students. We were invited to attend by a family member of a fellow student who works at this university.

During the lecture, Obuchi discussed how technology and globalization are drastically changing the way we design and build. He challenged us to think differently and let go of traditional ideas. An intriguing example he shared was the concept of designing a pavilion based on sound rather than sight. This lecture demonstrated how creative one can be with new techniques, materials, and ideas.
